Social Security Allows Same Sex Couples To Change Their Names After Marriage

Same Sex Name Change

The Social Security Administration recently changed its policy to allow same sex couples and married name change.  Instead of having to petition the court system for a legal name change order, same sex couples can now use their marriage certificate to file for a married name change.

In reading this article on the topic, it does seem that it is taking time for the new policy to filter down to the clerks at Social Security offices.  Please keep this in mind when you file for your new married name on your Social Security card.  I would suggest printing this Social Security Policy Update and bringing it with you, just in case you find yourself dealing with an uninformed clerk (it happens).

Need help changing your married name on your Social Security card and other documents?  Check out the MissNowMrs App or easy online name change service! As  long as you have certified marriage certificate and live in a state that recognizes your marriage, we’re happy to assist you!

Feel free to contact our experts if you have any questions about Social Security Allowing Same Sex Name Change.

Best Married Name Change Options for SEO

Married Name Change Options for SEO

Have you ever wondered about married name change options for SEO? Name change is a tough decision for any newlywed. But, it can be even harder for ladies trying to keep their SEO ranking.  If coming up under your maiden name via internet searches is important to your career (as a writer, doctor, lawyer, blogger, etc.), you may not want to change your name.  That being said, Mashable just published an article showing that certain forms of married name change can help your SEO rankings!

According to this Mashable article, taking two last names or hyphenating your maiden name with your spouse’s last name can result in higher SEO results.  The author, Samantha added her married name to her maiden name and then waited to see what Google would do with her new moniker.  The result?  She was easily found under her maiden name and also came up under searches for her married name.  As far as SEO goes, the more ways you show up under searches the better!

Hopefully this info helped you understand married name change options for SEO !  For more information and help with your married name change check out MissNowMrs the premier online name change app and service for newlyweds!

Where You Found Your Bridesmaids & What That Means About You

Where you found your bridesmaids

Where you found your bridesmaids is a really interesting snapshot of your life. I recently saw a photo, and thought it was first of all a great wedding photo idea and also a great topic to write about. The people you choose to stand up in your wedding party are supposed to be the most important people in your life that you picture supporting your marriage through all of its ups and downs.  This pin made we wonder about the meaning of who your bridesmaids are/were and where/when did you meet them in life?

My bridesmaids included my hometown best friend (we met in Girl Scouts), college & post college roommate and fellow bio major (she was one of the first people I met on campus), my first post college co-worker (who introduced me to my husband and later married my cousin) and my husband’s best girl friend (who helped salvage him after a terrible long term relationship).  All of these women have had profound impacts on me and have stood by me through many phases of my life.

Curiously absent from the bridal posse?  My sorority sisters.  I loved those crazy ladies but while I could picture them holding my hair back, I couldn’t see them supporting my new marriage.  Years later, I realize that they would and do, but at the time it was impossible to tell.  Do I regret not having one or two of them in my wedding?  Yes. But I don’t regret making bridesmaid decisions based on who I though would see me through newlywed and married life.

In the day and age where women factor in who will look best in their wedding photos and ask bridesmaids sign contracts about their weight and hair length, I would like to remind brides of the importance of who they surround themselves with on their big day and beyond.

PA Maiden to Middle Name Change After Marriage Update!

PA Maiden to Middle Name Change

Attention Pennsylvania brides and newlyweds: we have a PA maiden to middle name update! You now have the right to change your maiden name to your middle name, after marriage! After several years of saying “no”, the PA DMV has recently updated their position on maiden to middle name change.  As long as you file certain forms ahead of your state driver’s license and bring specific forms of ID showing your maiden name as your middle name, you can now take your maiden name on your PA driver’s license without going through the legal name change process. Whoohoo!

The PA DMV will allow maiden to middle name change after marriage, IF you can show a Social Security card with your maiden name as a middle name and 2 of the following forms of ID with that same name: voter registration, passport, tax records or any form or government issued photo IDs.  So as long as you  file for your new SS card and your other forms of ID and wait to receive them before you file for your PA driver’s license, you’ll have no issues changing your middle name in Pennsylvania!

Interested in taking your maiden name as their middle name?  The MissNowMrs name change app and service can save you 13 hours of hassle!

Finally, the Perfect Site for Bachelorette Party Goods

Bachelorette parties…the words bring to mind fun, friend-filled events that celebrate a bride’s last hurrah! Depending on the bride, the party can range from an intimate spa day to a full blown Vegas frenzy. As newlyweds, we all know that the planning and props make or break a bachelorette party and finding tasteful, high quality items is hard to do.

Enter The House of Bachelorette, this website is the brain child of Steph Storms. A former purchaser for Sears and White House Black Market, Steph was really frustrated by the skeevy websites and poor quality items she found when planning a friends bachelorette party. Her solution: create a fun female friendly website full of high quality items for bachelorette parties of all variations. They have everything from custom rhinestone sashes to wedding ring shot glasses (my personal favorite)! So, the next time you’re planning a bachelorette party for a friend you now know the ultimate place to shop!
