Married Name Change App on Great Day Washington

Name change after marriage happens year round, but Spring kicks off the largest number of weddings and consequent name changes. The MissNowMrs founder, Danielle Tate, joined Kristen Berset on Great Day Washington to discuss the MissNowMrs name change app, how her married name change company has changed over a decade, and her tips for other women looking to become entrepreneurs.

Married name change is always a hot topic. One camp firmly believes it’s a feminist abomination, and the other camp sees the romance and tradition of sharing a name with your spouse. As name-change experts, most people think that we’re pro name change. In fact, we’re not. We’re pro whatever name change decision is best for a newlywed.

Priyanka Chopra is the latest celebrity to choose to change her name after marriage, and her comments on “The Tonight Show” around why she made that decision are very similar to the ones we hear on the phone and via email at the MissNowMrs offices. For certain newlyweds changing their names makes them feel like they’re a family and closer to their spouse.

We particularly love how Priyanka was quick to follow her quote about changing her name with the fact that she’s not losing her identity, she’s just adding Nick Jonas to hers. The MissNowMrs offices are based in the Washington, D.C. area… so when we launched our new name change app, we were beyond excited to share our news with a reporter from Washingtonian Magazine! For those of you who aren’t familiar, Washingtonian Magazine is the D.C. go-to glossy for local business, restaurant, and cultural news.

In our decade-plus in business, we’ve had the good fortune to be mentioned in magazines like BRIDES, InStyle, Travel & Leisure, Martha Stewart Weddings and Town & Country Weddings. But, we’ve never been featured in Washingtonian. It was an honor to share how our founder’s own name-change nightmare sparked the idea for the MissNowMrs.com online name change service, how we customer-funded our growth and innovations over the years, and now how we’re disrupting the wedding industry niche we created with the MissNowMrs Name Change App.
