Is Jennifer Aniston Changing Her Name to Mrs. Jennifer Theroux?!

Jennifer Aniston Changing Her Name

Jennifer Aniston recently married Justin Theroux, and that happy event of course leads to the question…”Is Jennifer Aniston Changing Her Name?” While most women who trade on their names professionally (doctors, lawyers, realtors, writers, television/movie stars etc.) opt to keep their maiden names in some way. Name change after marriage is always a personal choice. Amal Clooney is a perfect example of a woman bucking “name change tradition” by taking her spouse’s name.

When Jennifer Aniston was married to Brad Pitt she did take his name legally. But, continued to work under her maiden name. I am curious if Jennifer will make the name change commitment in her second marriage. If the key factors that influence name change are explored, her age and occupation would skew Jennifer’s choice towards keeping her maiden name in some way.

The great thing is…it’s Jennifer’s choice..all women in the U.S. have the right to choose to change their names after marriage or not. We do hope if Jennifer is considering changing her name that she plays the MarriedNameGame to find her ultimate last name option!

If you were curious “is Jennifer Aniston changing her name?” because you’re thinking about changing your name. MissNowMrs can save you 13 hours of stress!

Taylor Swift Married Name Change?!

Taylor Swift Married Name Change

Taylor Swift Married Name Change? How did we come up with this headline?Though she’s not quite a newlywed yet. Taylor Swift would be happy to become Mrs. Taylor Harris if she marries her current boyfriend, Calvin Harris.  Insiders report that she is planning to replace her maiden name with Harris at least personally, while using Taylor Swift professionally.

Taylor is currently 25, which is a life factor that affects women’s married name change decision.  The younger a bride is at the time of her marriage, the more likely she is to take her spouse’s name in some way.  Taylor’s mega fame is a life factor that typically swings women towards keeping their maiden names, as women whose professional lives are tied to name recognition.

Finally, the factor of personal style affects a bride’s name change choice.  Taylor Swift is a very classic and traditional woman, so I can see that being the factor that nudges her decision to taking Calvin’s last name and becoming Mrs. Harris.

Regardless of her name change choice when she marries Calvin (or whomever her future spouse may be), we wish Taylor the very best in life and love!

Curious what factors in your life will influence your married name change?  Play the Married Name Game to find your perfect married name! If you’re interested in the idea of Taylor Swift married name change, because of your own. We’d love to help you with the MissNowMrs app or online service!

Newlywed Needs: What To Do After “I do”

What To Do After "I do"

Do you know what to do after “I do?” Newlywed life is pretty great.  You just married the love of your life, most likely honeymooned somewhere amazing and now can look forward to spending the rest of your lives together.  At some point, most newlyweds hit the “so now what” point.  No need to feel lost…here’s a list of newlywed to-do’s to keep you moving forward in marital bliss.

Newlywed To Do #1: Make a Name Change Decision
Now that you’re a newlywed, one or both of you have the option to change your name.  Discuss your thoughts on the topic and then make a decision together.  The longer you wait to change your name (if that is your plan) the more places you will need to change it.  As a newlywed you’re going to end up merging a few accounts and creating new ones.  Having the name you intend to have for life prior to making those changes will save you the time and stress of having to change your name on both old and new accounts.  If you’re overwhelmed with all the places you need to change your name, use the MissNowMrs online name change service to go from Miss to Mrs. in minutes!

Newlywed To Do #2: Merge Bank/Insurance Accounts
Now that’ you’re an official “household” you can use your newlywed status to score discounted rates on home, health and auto insurance!  Do a little research to see what company offers the best deal and then delegate who changes what and who pays what.  I suggest separate bank accounts and a joint savings account as a key way to keeping a happy marriage, but if one of you is a financial wiz, you may elect to merge all of your bank accounts.

Newlywed To Do #3: Handle the Holidays
Holidays (much like weddings) bring out the best and worst in families.  Putting together a plan of where you will be for each holiday, and ideally which holiday you’ll host in your home, will help you navigate the holidays as newlyweds and set the tone for future family celebrations.  Just “going with the flow” is a great way to enter holiday hell, upset family members on both sides and miss the true reason for whatever season you’re in.

Newlywed To Do #4: Create a 5 Year Plan
You’re newlyweds and the world is your oyster.  Now is the time to decide what is important to you both and where you want to be in five years.  Do you want to own your own home, get a secondary degree, purchase a pet, have children or travel the world in the next five years?  The answers to these questions will help you map out your finances and goals.  It’s such an exciting time…make the most of it and make sure you end up where you want to.  You’re in charge of your happily ever after!

Once you’ve followed our tips for what to do after “I do.” don’t miss a list of our best fun ideas for things to do after the wedding.

Zoe Saldana’s Husband Changes His Last Name To Hers!

We love when celebrity’s husband changes his name to hers! Newlywed Marco Perego bucked name change tradition and took his lovely wife’s last name after their marriage. The new Mr. and Mrs. Zoe Saldana may be making news as celebrities who made an atypical name change choice, but more and more men are taking their spouse’s last name, hyphenating names or blending last names.

What does this new trend in men’s name change mean? Honestly, as a name change expert, I believe it means that couples are finally equal in each other’s eyes and name change has nothing to do with ownership. Many of our client’s are citing the concept of name change showing that they’re “all in” in their marriage and I love that sentiment!  No one should change their name against their will (man or woman), but name change can be an expression of love.

If you are a newlywed man interested in taking your spouse’s last name, the state you live in dictates the process you can use to change to your married name. Men who live in California, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York or North Dakota can used the married name change process to change their names (as these states recognize a man’s right to change his name based on marriage). If you do not live in one of the listed states, you will need to petition the US court system for a legal name change order and then file the appropriate paperwork to affect your new name.

Currently, California is the only state that allows couples to blend their last names using the married name change process. **The catch is you must list that blended name when you apply for your marriage license. Talking about name change pre-wedding is something I always advise. You may surprise each other with your views and ideas (in a good way).

Curious what name change option or options are right for you and your spouse? Play the MarriedNameGame and let its patent pending algorithm generate your perfect married name! Also, if you have a friend who’s husband changes his name to hers, we’d love to hear your story in a comment!
